This set of curves is offered as a typical example of the on-axis, 90 degree, and 180 degree frequency responses of the Superlux CM-H8C mic set to the Cardioid position.
The white curve is the on-axis (front) response. The yellow curve is the 90 degree (side) response. The purple curve is the 180 degree (rear) response. The 90 degree response tracks the on-axis response just at a reduced level up to about 9,000 Hz. The rolloff above this point is due to the large diameter of the capsule and is found in all large capsule microphones. The rear rejection varies with frequency in a way similar to most large diaphragm microphones.
